Court Issues Bench Warrant for NPP Communicator KOKA Over Threats to EOCO Staff

An Accra Circuit Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of marketer and New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicator Kweku Osei Korankye Asiedu, popularly known as KOKA, after he failed to appear in court to face criminal charges.
Asiedu faces charges of death threats and publication of false news targeting personnel of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
During proceedings, lead prosecutor Chief Inspector Wisdom Alorwu informed the court that the accused was duly served but failed to attend, describing his absence as disrespectful to the administration of justice. In response, the court ordered his immediate arrest and adjourned the case to August 25, 2026.
According to the prosecution, the charges stem from a social media video recorded on May 29, 2026, in which Asiedu allegedly made direct threats against law enforcement personnel:
“We know the officers’ houses, we know where they stay, and we will kill you,” the accused reportedly stated in the broadcast.
The prosecution further detailed that on July 13, 2026, Asiedu posted another video falsely claiming that the Presidency had ordered EOCO officials to withhold food from Dennis Miracles Aboagye, who was then in custody assisting with an ongoing investigation.
State attorneys argued that the false publication incited public hostility, resulting in an incident where approximately 20 unidentified individuals on motorbikes allegedly pursued the vehicle of EOCO’s Executive Director.
Police reports indicate that Asiedu admitted to the acts in his caution statement following his initial arrest.
