(VIDEO) Ghana Needs Mixed Market System to Tackle Inequality, Says Dr. Stephen Amoah
Nhyiaeso MP Dr. Stephen Amoah urges Parliament to embrace a mixed economic model combining state intervention and free-market principles.

The Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Dr. Stephen Amoah, has urged the state to adopt a mixed market economy, arguing that Ghana’s current free-market framework has failed to deliver sustainable economic relief for ordinary citizens.
Delivering a statement on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, Dr. Amoah advocated for a strategic economic model that blends targeted state intervention with market-driven principles to bridge economic inequalities and enhance public welfare.
“Decades of high living costs and low standards of living have undermined the expected benefits of economic growth and tempered public expectations of a rapid economic turnaround,” Dr. Amoah stated.
He explained that persistent economic pressures have eroded citizen satisfaction and utility, making a fundamental paradigm shift necessary to restore confidence and build a more resilient economy.
