A 45-year-old farmer, Anuma Samuel, popularly known as Degbe, has allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself in the chest at Tiawia, a community in the Atiwa East District of the Eastern Region.

The incident, which occurred at his residence on Tuesday morning, has since been reported to the police, who have taken over investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death.

According to family members, the deceased, who was married with seven children, allegedly became upset after his youngest child requested money to go to school.

His wife, Madam Adobea Jennette, said the disagreement escalated, after which Anuma Samuel left for the farm.

She explained that upon returning home, he locked himself in a room and allegedly shot himself.

The family is currently awaiting further details from the police as investigations continue into the tragic incident.
