Court Remands Abronye DC for Failing to Surrender Passport

The Accra High Court has remanded the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, into police custody for failing to comply with a bail condition requiring him to surrender his passport.
The court issued the remand order after determining that Abronye DC had breached the terms of his bail, which was granted last month following his arraignment on a charge of false publication.
Abronye DC was not present in court when the ruling was delivered.
As part of the conditions attached to his bail, the court directed him to deposit his passport. However, his alleged failure to comply prompted the court to revoke the bail arrangement and order his detention.
The NPP regional chairman is currently facing prosecution in a case brought by the State over allegations of false publication.
The substantive matter remains before the Circuit Court, where proceedings on the charge are expected to continue.
