A fuel tanker loaded with about 56,000 litres of diesel has overturned at Enyiresi along the Anyinam–Nkawkaw Highway, reportedly due to poor and slippery road conditions.

The accident involved a MAN diesel tanker with registration number AS-9631-10, which veered off the road and overturned near a bushy section by the roadside.

According to preliminary information, the crash was triggered by a combination of ongoing road construction works, loose gravel, muddy surfaces caused by rainfall, and wet conditions that reduced tyre traction.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene to carry out search and rescue operations and to determine whether any occupants were trapped in the wreckage.

Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were recorded.

The tanker, however, sustained partial damage to its cabin, with estimated losses running into several thousands of cedis.

The incident has renewed concerns about road safety along construction corridors, especially during the rainy season when driving conditions become increasingly hazardous.
