The Ghana Police Service in the Northern Region is providing shelter and support for a 20-year-old woman whose intimate images were allegedly circulated online following a reported assault and blackmail incident in Tamale.
According to the victim, the images were released after one of the suspects allegedly failed in an attempt to blackmail her into engaging in sexual activity.

Preliminary reports suggest the woman was found naked in a vehicle with a man when two other men reportedly confronted them. The suspects are said to have taken her clothes, filmed her while naked, and physically assaulted her during the incident.
She further alleged that the suspects later attempted to extort her using the footage, threatening to publish the videos if she refused their demands.

The case, which initially began at the district level, has now been escalated to the Northern Regional Police Command for further investigations.
Northern Regional Police Commander DCOP Wisdom Lavoe confirmed that authorities are working with the Department of Social Welfare to provide the victim with protection, psychological support, and care.
Meanwhile, Tamale-based lawyer Sylvester Isang has offered to represent the victim pro bono, stating his intention to meet her and assess the next legal steps once he returns from travel.

The case has sparked public concern, especially amid reports that the victim allegedly attempted to take her own life following the circulation of the videos online. Police investigations are ongoing.
