Deadly Armed Attacks in Bono East and Northern Regions Leave 4 Dead, Several Injured
Police launch intensive manhunt as armed attackers strike fuel station and passenger bus in separate incidents

Four people have been confirmed dead and several others injured following two separate armed robbery incidents recorded in the Bono East and Northern Regions on May 2, 2026.
According to the Ghana Police Service, the violent attacks have triggered a major security response, with the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, ordering the deployment of specialised units to pursue the perpetrators.
In the first incident, armed robbers attacked a fuel station at Sampa near Jato Zongo in the Atebubu District of the Bono East Region. The attackers shot and killed two individuals, injured others, and escaped with an unspecified amount of cash from the attendant.
In a separate attack on the same day, gunmen ambushed a passenger bus near Nasia along the Bolgatanga–Tamale highway in the Northern Region. The assailants opened fire on the vehicle, killing two passengers instantly and injuring several others.
Following the incidents, the Police Intelligence Directorate Headquarters and the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit have been deployed to the affected areas to assist with investigations and lead an intensive manhunt.
The Police Service has since intensified security patrols in the two regions to prevent further attacks and reassure residents.
Authorities have assured the public that efforts are underway to arrest and prosecute those responsible.
