Oti Regional Minister John Kwadwo Gyapong has confirmed that six people have been killed in a series of violent attacks in Nkwanta South, where assailants are reportedly hiding in bushes and targeting residents.
Speaking on Friday, March 27, Mr. Gyapong said his investigations indicate that attackers are ambushing victims in farms and remote bush areas, spreading fear across the community. He highlighted a recent case in which a young boy, tending his father’s cattle, was found dead in the bush.
The minister noted that the killings appear to be a deliberate effort by certain groups to assert control over land and restrict access to it. Among the victims are three children, bringing the death toll to six as of Monday.
He emphasized that most of the violence has taken place in farms and isolated areas, suggesting a calculated attempt to intimidate residents and strengthen territorial claims.
Describing the situation as deeply alarming, Mr. Gyapong called for urgent measures to restore peace and security in the municipality.
