Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, has fallen victim to a theft incident in Vienna just hours before their international friendly against Austria on Friday, March 27, 2026.

According to a source within the Ghana Football Association, some team members were affected during their stay in the Austrian capital.

Items stolen include $2,250 in cash and two Rolex watches. The cash reportedly belongs to members of the management committee, while the watches are owned by players.

He further revealed that investigations have been hindered by non-functional CCTV cameras at the team’s hotel, making it difficult for Austrian police to identify suspects or gather evidence.

Despite the setback, team officials say the situation remains under control, with players and technical staff maintaining focus ahead of the game.

The GFA has assured that it is collaborating with Austrian authorities and will provide updates as the investigation progresses.
