A final-year student of Effutu A.M.E Zion Girls Senior High School, Emmanuella Quainoo, has died following a bee attack on the school campus in the Effutu Municipality.

The incident reportedly occurred around 5:00 p.m., when Emmanuella was stung by a swarm of bees. She was rushed to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, but was pronounced dead in the early hours of the following morning while receiving treatment.

Eyewitnesses said that they saw students fleeing for safety during the attack. Moments later, they found Emmanuella unconscious on the ground.

According to witnesses, emergency response was delayed after the Winneba Fire Service was unable to respond due to a reported breakdown of its fire tender. Personnel from the Apam Fire Service were contacted but arrived after the situation had worsened.

Family members have been left devastated. Emmanuella’s grandmother, Vida Ayi Mensah, revealed that she had been enrolled to rewrite her WASSCE after previously failing a science paper last year and expressed shock over the tragic loss.
