WAEC Releases Provisional Results for 2025 WASSCE Private Candidates

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released provisional results for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, Second Series.

A total of 41,767 candidates sat for the examination, made up of 20,036 males and 24,501 females. The figure included 16 visually impaired and seven hearing-impaired candidates. However, 2,422 registered candidates were absent.

WAEC announced that the full results of 348 candidates and subject results of 469 others have been withheld over alleged examination malpractice. The reported offences include collusion, impersonation, possession of foreign materials, and seeking external assistance. The council stated that the affected results will either be released or cancelled after investigations are concluded.

In terms of performance, 67.43% of candidates obtained grades A1–C6 in English Language, while 49.84% achieved similar passes in Core Mathematics. Integrated Science recorded 35% of candidates earning top grades, whereas Social Studies posted the highest performance, with 81.21% attaining A1–C6.

WAEC cautioned the public against fraudsters who claim they can upgrade examination results for a fee, emphasizing that its database is secure and results can only be authenticated through official WAEC channels.

The council also expressed appreciation to stakeholders, supervisors, invigilators, and examiners for their contributions to the smooth conduct of the examination and the timely release of results.
