Akrofuom MP praises government for stabilizing the cedi, reducing fuel prices, and ensuring consistent power supply

- Akrofuom MP says Ghana is experiencing real economic transformation under current government
- Highlights include cedi stabilization, reduced fuel prices, and reliable power supply
- Achievements credited to efficient governance with fewer than 60 ministers
Akrofuom Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon. Joseph Azumah, has hailed the 2026 Budget, describing it as a reflection of Ghana’s ongoing economic transformation.
Speaking with Kwame Tanko on the Ghana Se Sen Morning Show on Lawson TV/Radio, Hon. Azumah said, “Ghana is experiencing real economic transformation. If you look at the performance of the government from January, you can clearly see the country is heading in the right direction.”
He noted that the current administration inherited a “reckless economy” but has since achieved significant milestones. The cedi, which at one point traded around 15 to a US dollar, has strengthened to approximately 10 cedis to the dollar over the past ten months.
He noted that fuel prices have also been reduced, easing costs for households and businesses.
On energy, the MP emphasized that contrary to opposition claims that the NDC would return Ghana to “dumsor,” power supply has remained stable for almost a decade under the current government.
“All these achievements,” Hon. Azumah added, “have been accomplished with fewer than 60 ministers, demonstrating efficiency and prudent management of public resources.”
He expressed optimism that the 2026 Budget, themed “Resetting for Growth, Jobs, and Economic Transformation,” will consolidate these gains, create employment opportunities, and further strengthen Ghana’s economic foundations.
