13 Killed, Several Injured in Fatal Three-Vehicle Crash Near Konongo

At least 13 people have lost their lives and several others have sustained injuries following a tragic three-vehicle crash at Odumase, near Konongo, on the Kumasi-Accra Highway in the Ashanti Region.
The accident involved a tomato-laden cargo truck, a passenger bus, and a fuel tanker that was reportedly empty at the time of the collision.
Although authorities have not yet determined the official cause of the crash, eyewitnesses claim the incident occurred after one of the vehicles allegedly attempted a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre, leading to a head-on collision.
Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene to rescue passengers trapped in the wreckage. The injured were transported to nearby hospitals, where they are receiving medical treatment.
The accident has resulted in severe traffic congestion along the busy highway as police, firefighters, and other emergency personnel continue rescue and recovery operations.
In a separate development, another road accident was reported shortly afterwards at Dadieso, also near Konongo, raising renewed concerns about road safety on the Kumasi-Accra Highway.
Authorities have confirmed 13 fatalities so far but caution that the death toll may increase as rescue efforts continue and some of the injured remain in critical condition.
