The Mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang, has hosted a Canadian delegation to explore sustainable solutions to challenges at the Oti Landfill Site.
The engagement follows directives from Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, calling for discussions aimed at addressing concerns surrounding the landfill facility.
The delegation was led by Mr. Craig Latimer, Chief Executive Officer of Portage Energy Group, a company specialising in waste-to-energy technology that converts waste into usable energy for development.
As part of the visit, the team toured the Oti Landfill Site to assess its operational and environmental conditions at first hand and better understand the challenges facing the facility.
They also met management of JSO Waste Ltd to discuss ongoing operations and explore possible areas of collaboration.
The visit forms part of wider efforts by the Assembly to introduce innovative and long-term waste management solutions aimed at improving sanitation, protecting the environment, and delivering sustainable benefits to residents of Kumasi.
