President John Dramani Mahama has issued a firm warning to his ministers and public officials, stressing that anyone who brings corruption or scandal into his administration will face strict accountability.
Speaking on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, during a courtesy call from the Christian Council of Ghana at Jubilee House, Mahama emphasized that he reminds his ministers daily to uphold integrity and avoid actions that could tarnish the government’s reputation.
“The fight against corruption is not personal. It is about protecting public resources,” he said. “Woe betides the first person who brings a scandal to this government. We will deal with them decisively—justice will be served.”
The President warned that Ghana’s democracy depends on accountable leadership. “If we want citizens, especially the youth, to maintain faith in our democracy, the political elite must govern responsibly. Many young people in the 2024 elections felt disillusioned because of leaders misusing public resources. We must change that perception,” he noted.
Mahama also highlighted the risks of failing to maintain accountability, stating, “Ghana is not immune to coups or civilian unrest. If leaders fail to act responsibly, national stability could be threatened.”
He reiterated that his administration is committed to upholding transparency and integrity, signaling that corruption will be met with severe consequences, regardless of political position or status.
