Tema West Residents Take a Stand in Style, Marching in Judicial Robes to Demand Chief Justice's Return

- Protesters from Tema West wore red judicial robes and wigs to show support for Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo
- The demonstration, led by the NPP, saw participation from multiple political parties
- Protesters called for the immediate withdrawal of the Chief Justice’s suspension
In a bold show of solidarity during Monday’s #SaveTheJudiciary protest, residents from Tema West stood out with their striking outfits as they rallied against the suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo on May 5, 2025.

Eschewing the traditional red and black protest attire, the demonstrators wore eye-catching red versions of judicial robes, complete with wigs—an unconventional but symbolic fashion statement that captured attention and underscored their message.

The march, organized by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), drew support from several other political parties, including the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), National Democratic Party (NDP), People’s National Party (PNP), and Ghana Union Movement (GUM).
Their united demand: an immediate reversal of the Chief Justice’s suspension.
