Hon. Eric Edem Agbana, the Member of Parliament for Ketu North, has cut the sod for the construction of an ultra-modern ICT Laboratory and Community Centre at Ehi, describing the project as a “game changer” for digital education in the municipality.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Agbana said the project aligns with his commitment to improving educational infrastructure, particularly in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). He noted that access to ICT facilities remains a major challenge for schools in the constituency.

“Many of our schools still do not have computer laboratories. Some students are learning ICT on the blackboard. This facility will serve as a model centre for more than 22 surrounding communities that have basic schools with no computers,” he said.
The MP expressed gratitude to the Charity Galley Foundation for Education, funders of the initiative, adding that the project would serve as a legacy of hope for current and future generations of learners in Ketu North.
He encouraged stakeholders, philanthropists, and friends of education locally and globally to support the successful completion of the centre, which will include an ICT laboratory, science centre, and community library under one modern architectural complex.

Mr. Agbeko Odione Kumordzie, Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Charity Galley Foundation for Education, said the project is inspired by the legacy of his late mother, Charity Galley, and is aimed at transforming ICT learning for underserved communities across Ghana and beyond.

He explained that although earlier plans targeted other regions such as the Ashanti Region after completing a similar facility in Agbozume-Sonuto in Ketu South, the MP’s passion and commitment convinced him to bring the project to Ehi.
“No child in Ghana should learn computers on a blackboard in 2025. Information technology is the future, and we must act now.
This project at Ehi will feature an ICT Lab, Science Centre, and a well-furnished, air-conditioned community library,” he emphasised. Mr. Kumordzie called for global support to help expand similar projects across Africa.

Rev. Martin Amenaki, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ketu North, commended the foundation and the MP for championing digital education.
“What we are about to witness here is a unique facility, unmatched anywhere. We thank our revered chiefs for ensuring smooth access to land without disputes, enabling this project to take off,” he said.
Prof. Hugh Aryee, Vanuatu Trade Commissioner to Ghana and a supporter of the initiative, announced the donation of 50 bags of cement and pledged to facilitate youth training in Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the centre upon completion.
“This project represents progress and a continuation of a legacy rooted in service and community development,” he added.
Mr. Gerhard Avudzivi, the Ketu North Director of Education, expressed appreciation for the project, noting that its successful siting at Ehi reflects the forward-thinking leadership of the chiefs and people of the community.
He emphasised that the Education Directorate, being the main beneficiary of the facility, must adopt a strong culture of maintenance to preserve the infrastructure and ensure its long-term impact.
The Director thanked the Charity Galley Foundation, the MP, and all partners for prioritising the welfare and future of students in the area through this important initiative.
Torgbui Dzeble Adukpo IV, Dufia of Ehi and head of the Ehi Division of the Weta Traditional Council, likened the occasion to “the founding of a great nation,” expressing joy that a long-awaited dream was finally taking shape. He assured full support from the chiefs and residents to ensure completion of the project.
The ceremony gathered Paramount Chiefs from the four zones in Ketu North, community members, cultural groups, and development stakeholders who celebrated the milestone with drumming and dancing.
