A 90-year-old man, Mr. Christopher Agboka, popularly known as Gbagbladza, was allegedly murdered by 32-year-old farmer Edem Kpotsodzi at Datsiedu-Ziope in the Agortime-Ziope District of the Volta Region on Tuesday, January 6.

The tragic incident has left the close-knit farming community in mourning. Seth Adorvlo, Assemblyman for the Ziope Electoral Area, confirmed the attack, explaining that the suspect had been plucking coconuts from Mr. Agboka’s farm.

When the elderly man asked him to stop, citing that the coconuts were not yet ripe, Kpotsodzi reportedly became enraged. According to Adorvlo, the suspect returned home, armed himself with a knife, and stabbed Mr. Agboka multiple times in the stomach, causing fatal injuries.

The victim’s intestines were severely damaged in the assault, leading to his death at the scene. The suspect fled but was later arrested by police and is assisting with investigations, confirmed sources at the Ziope Police Station.
