Former Arsenal and Ghana international midfielder, Thomas Partey, has been granted conditional bail after appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday morning, where he faced multiple serious allegations.

The 32-year-old footballer, who recently exited Arsenal following the expiration of his contract in June, has been formally charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

These charges relate to alleged incidents involving three different women between 2021 and 2022, during his tenure with the North London club.

According to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Partey faces two rape charges involving one woman, three with another, and a single count of sexual assault with a third.

Court reports reveal that Partey stood silently in the dock wearing a black zip-up jumper. His bail conditions prohibit any contact with the complainants and require him to inform authorities of any address changes or plans to travel abroad.

During the hearing, it was also disclosed that Partey is close to finalizing a deal with Spanish La Liga club Villarreal. Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring remarked that Partey appears to no longer be employed in the UK, stating, “I understand he’s now playing in Spain.”

Partey’s legal counsel, Jenny Wiltshire, emphasized her client’s firm denial of all charges, adding that he is eager to clear his name in court.

The case has been adjourned and will resume at the Old Bailey on September 2.
