In a fiery escalation of political tensions, U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Elon Musk.

He has asked Musk to stop criticizing or risk losing billions in federal support — and possibly face deportation.

Taking to Truth Social, Trump lashed out at Musk following the billionaire’s scathing rebuke of Trump’s latest spending proposal, dubbed the “One Big Beautiful Bill.” Musk had called the bill a “disgusting abomination” for inflating the national deficit and gutting electric vehicle tax credits.

“Elon may have gotten more subsidies than any human being in history,” Trump wrote. “Without them, he’d probably have to close up shop and head back to South Africa.”

Musk, once tapped by Trump to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has since turned vocal critic, accusing Trump and other lawmakers of betraying fiscal conservatism. He’s threatened to launch a new political force — the “America Party” — if the bill passes, saying the country needs “a real alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty.”

The feud has grown intensely personal. Trump hinted at pulling federal contracts that fuel Musk’s companies — including NASA deals with SpaceX and EV subsidies crucial to Tesla’s growth. “No more rocket launches, satellites, or electric car production,” Trump posted. “Our country would save a FORTUNE.”

Musk didn’t hold back. He accused Trump of hypocrisy, hinted at decommissioning the SpaceX Dragon fleet, and even stirred controversy by implying Trump’s name appeared in the Epstein files — a claim he later walked back.

Political observers say the clash underscores a widening rift on the American right — between Trump’s populist, anti-establishment base and Musk’s technocratic, pro-innovation faction. As the 2025 election season intensifies, this standoff could redraw party lines and redefine America’s approach to tech, climate, and the economy.

Whether Trump makes good on his threats remains to be seen. But the battle between two of the most disruptive figures in American life is clearly just beginning — and its outcome could reshape everything from federal spending to the future of space travel.
