A deadly mass shooting at the Or Tor Kor Market in Bangkok, Thailand, has left five people dead, including the suspected gunman, Thai police have confirmed.
The incident unfolded at the well-known fresh food market, which is famed for its high-quality fruits and seafood. Local media report that among the victims were several security guards.

While mass shootings are rare in Thailand, the country has faced a series of deadly gun violence incidents in recent years.
In 2023, a 14-year-old opened fire at a luxury mall in Bangkok, killing two and injuring five. In 2022, a former police officer attacked a childcare centre in Nong Bua Lamphu province, killing at least 37 people, most of them children.
Another tragic event occurred in 2020, when a soldier killed 29 people in a rampage in Nakhon Ratchasima.
Thailand has relatively high gun ownership compared to neighbouring countries, raising ongoing concerns about public safety and gun control.
