Rosemond Obeng Lands Senior Presidential Role Staffer After Ditching The NPP
This appointment comes after Obeng's high-profile defection from the NPP to the NDC

Former NPP stalwart Rosemond Obeng, popularly known as “People’s Mother,” has been appointed as a Senior Presidential Staffer by President John Dramani Mahama.
This appointment comes after Obeng’s high-profile defection from the NPP to the NDC just days before the December 2024 election.
Obeng’s switch drew significant attention, with her being labeled a “betrayer” by her former party.
During her transition, she launched a media campaign criticizing her former boss, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, whom she had previously praised.
In a recent appearance on GHOne’s “State of Affairs” program, Obeng expressed her concerns about Dr. Bawumia’s leadership abilities.
As a Senior Presidential Staffer in charge of Government Communications, Obeng will work closely with Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu.
Her appointment is seen as a significant boost to the NDC administration, with her experience and expertise expected to contribute to the government’s communication efforts.
This isn’t Obeng’s first notable move; she was a former National NPP TESCON coordinator before joining the NDC.
Her appointment follows other high-profile defections between the two major parties in Ghana.
