Pure FM, one of Kumasi’s most popular radio stations, has gone off air following a devastating fire that ravaged its studio late Wednesday night.

Eyewitnesses report that the blaze took emergency responders over three hours to bring under control. Thankfully, no casualties were recorded.

Speaking on Lawson TV/Radio’s Ghana Se Sen Morning Show, with Kwame Tanko,  Kwame Adinkra — the station’s Morning Show host and Business Manager — confirmed the incident.

He stated that the fire was first detected by a night DJ who noticed smoke coming from the studio’s air conditioner before flames quickly engulfed the space.

The fire has since been completely extinguished. However, the full extent of the damage is still being assessed, and the exact cause of the inferno remains unknown.

Pure FM operates under the Angel Broadcasting Network, one of Ghana’s leading media conglomerates.
