At least 15 people are feared dead following a fatal collision on the Kumasi–Accra highway, near Atwedie, on the afternoon of Monday, July 28.

The victims, believed to be members of the Saviour Church of Ghana, were reportedly returning to Obogu in the Asante Akyem South Municipality after attending their church’s annual convention in the Eastern Region.

According to initial reports, the crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. when the vehicle transporting the church members collided head-on with an oncoming fuel tanker.

Eyewitnesses and first responders described the scene as devastating, with several passengers dying instantly from the impact.

Emergency personnel, including police and fire service teams, responded promptly and have since been working to recover bodies and clear the wreckage. The deceased have been transported to a nearby morgue, while investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.

More updates are expected as authorities continue their assessment of the scene.
