Berekum: Man Allegedly Kills Brother and Sister-in-Law Over Cashew Farm Dispute

A man, Emmanuel Yeboah, has been arrested in Berekum, Bono Region, for allegedly attacking his brother and the brother’s wife in a dispute over a cashew farm, resulting in their deaths.
According to the Bono Regional Police Command, the suspect ambushed the victims with a cutlass while they were on their way to the disputed land.
The injured couple was rushed to a health facility but died on January 8, 2025, while receiving medical treatment.
Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Regional Public Relations Officer, stated that Yeboah was arrested and remanded in police custody on January 3, 2025, by the Berekum Circuit Court, presided over by Mr. Osei Kofi, facing charges of attempted murder and causing harm.
He is scheduled to reappear in court on January 12, 2025, for further proceedings.
Police investigations indicate that the attack was likely motivated by a long-standing dispute over cashew farm ownership. A cutlass believed to have been used in the assault was recovered from the bush, and inquiries are ongoing.
