PNC Leadership Calls For Arrest Of Two NPP Members Over Alleged Reckless Comments Against Mahama-Led Government

The leadership of the People’s National Convention (PNC) has called for the arrest of two members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) over what it describes as “reckless statements” directed at the government of President John Dramani Mahama.
The individuals named are Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organizer of the NPP, and Benjamin Gyewu-Appiah, a member of the party’s National Communications Team.
According to the PNC leadership, Salam Mustapha allegedly stated that he would make the government “ungovernable” for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Benjamin Gyewu-Appiah is also said to have allegedly warned that members of the NPP would not hesitate to burn down the headquarters of the NDC if any NPP member is arrested or intimidated again.
Speaking during an informal meeting with PNC executives as part of discussions and strategic planning toward the 2028 general elections, the leadership stressed that democracy and peace must remain central to Ghana’s political environment.
The National Chairman of the PNC, Sampson Ashaki, said the comments, if left unchecked, could threaten national peace and stability.
He cited a similar incident in Rwanda that led to a state of anarchy.
He therefore called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and other national security agencies to investigate the matter and take the necessary legal action against the individuals involved.
