The Ghana National Association of Teachers, Ashanti Region, has taken note of the arrest and detention of a teacher who serves as hostel caretaker at Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School in the Atwima Mponua District, following an altercation with a final year student.

GNAT Ashanti Region is concerned about the manner in which the matter is being handled and the continued detention of our colleague.
Our Demands
1. We call on the Ghana Police Service, Atwima Mponua Command, to grant bail to the teacher immediately.
2. We urge all stakeholders, including the Ghana Education Service and the school authorities, to ensure due process is followed.

Notice of Action
Should the teacher not be granted bail by tomorrow, GNAT Ashanti Region will be compelled to direct teachers of Nyinahin Catholic SHS and all teachers in the district to boycott the ongoing WASSCE examinations.
In addition, teachers will be asked to wear red bands and embark on a demonstration against the authorities to register our displeasure.
