The Ashanti Regional Police Command has rolled out a reinforced security and traffic management plan as the Christmas season approaches.

The initiative is aimed at reducing the heavy congestion expected during the festivities while boosting efforts to deter and arrest criminals who may attempt to capitalize on the busy period. Police say the measures are part of a broader strategy to guarantee a safe holiday experience for residents and visitors.

During a Memorial Service on Wednesday, December 10, held in honour of police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, Regional Police Commander DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto urged the public to actively support the operation by sharing credible information that could help apprehend offenders.

He also called on the media to exercise caution in its critique of the police, emphasizing that constructive dialogue is key to sustaining peace and security.

Speaking on increasing concerns over traffic and crime, DCOP Akoto noted, “Traffic remains a major challenge in the Ashanti Region, particularly in Kumasi, and we are committed to improving the situation.

“As the festive season draws near, we know criminals attempt to take advantage of the period, so we have deployed a substantial number of officers across the region. We encourage the public to collaborate with us to safeguard our communities.”
