Micheal Okyere Baafi, Member of Parliament for New Juaben South Constituency, has reassured the public that veteran politician Kennedy Agyapong remains firmly within the ranks of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking on the Ghana Se Sen Morning Show with Kwame Tanko, Hon. Okyere Baafi described rumors of Kennedy Agyapong’s potential departure from the party as unfounded and said such a move would “will us,” highlighting the importance of experienced leaders in the political game of numbers.
“I don’t think so; he will never quit the party. Kennedy Agyapong leaving the NPP will worry us,” Hon. Okyere Baafi said.
He added that he personally has no fear of publicly showing support for Agyapong and clarified that he did not side with any candidate during the NPP Presidential Primaries.
The speculation comes after reports that Kennedy Agyapong, a longstanding NPP stalwart, is allegedly planning to leave the party following the Presidential Primaries and may even form his own political outfit. Former NPP financier George Oti Bonsu has established a political party called The Base for Kennedy Agyapong, though Kennedy Agyapong himself has yet to respond publicly.
Political insiders suggest that internal conflicts and tensions within the party could be influencing the rumors, but no official statement has been made by Kennedy Agyapong.
Micheal Okyere Baafi, however, remains optimistic, asserting that the party’s strength lies in unity and the dedication of its members.
