NPP parliamentary candidate Nana Akua Afriyie has denounced the violent chaos that disrupted voting at St. Peter’s polling station during the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun on Friday, July 11.
She accused political opponents—particularly the NDC—of orchestrating the attacks to suppress voter turnout and diminish her chances of winning.
Akua Afriyie and former Minister Hawa Koomson were both assaulted in the melee, while one NPP supporter was hospitalised following violence at another polling centre. She urged constituents to vote, assuring them of heightened security.
The NPP has appealed to the IGP to guarantee voter safety amid the unrest.
