The late music legend, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, was honoured on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Ghanaian highlife music and his lasting influence on generations of artistes.

As his name was announced at the Grand Arena in Accra, the atmosphere turned deeply emotional, with audience members lighting up the auditorium with mobile phone flashlights in a moving show of admiration and respect.

The tribute celebrated Daddy Lumba’s decades-long musical journey, from his classic early highlife hits to the reflective and philosophical songs that cemented his place as one of Ghana’s greatest musicians.

A touching performance by Ofori Amponsah, a longtime collaborator and protégé of the late icon, further heightened emotions during the ceremony. His renditions of Daddy Lumba’s timeless songs drew loud applause and nostalgic reactions from the audience.
