A tipper truck driver has been burnt to death following a horrific crash involving a fuel tanker and a truck on the Accra–Tema Motorway.

The tragic accident sparked a massive fire, triggering an urgent response from fire personnel drawn from the Motorway, Ashaiman, and Industrial Area Fire Stations.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control with support from a water tanker supplied by the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly, preventing the fire from spreading further.

Three occupants were rescued from the scene and rushed to the Tema General Hospital for treatment. However, the driver of the tipper truck was trapped in the wreckage and died in the inferno.

Firefighters later carried out recovery operations to retrieve the charred remains from the destroyed vehicle.

Personnel from the Ashaiman Police Command were also deployed to the scene to maintain order and support rescue and recovery efforts.

The cause of the crash is yet to be officially determined, with investigations expected to establish the circumstances that led to the collision and fire outbreak.

The incident also caused heavy traffic congestion on parts of the busy motorway as emergency teams worked to contain the blaze and clear the scene.
