New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has called on the Church in Ghana to play a more decisive role in shaping the nation’s political leadership and moral direction.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Eternal Life Church in Accra on Sunday, Mr. Agyapong urged religious leaders to be bold and outspoken about who they believe should lead the country, noting that the Church holds significant influence and credibility among Ghanaians.
“The situation we are in now requires that the Church should be bold to come out and take directions on who should be the leader of this country,” he said. “We politicians have lied to the citizens so many times that they’ve lost trust in us. But when men of God speak, they believe.”
The Assin Central MP and businessman emphasized that collaboration between faith-based institutions and political leadership is essential for rebuilding trust, promoting integrity, and driving industrial and economic development.
“The Church and politicians must work hand in hand to build this country,” he noted, urging churches to invest in job creation as part of their social mission to support members and empower the youth.
Mr. Agyapong also commended the Eternal Life Church for combining spiritual growth with economic empowerment, describing it as a “model of purpose-driven ministry.”
He cautioned against misrepresenting his remarks, saying his call for collaboration was rooted in the belief that faith and leadership must unite for national progress.
Mr. Agyapong, who continues to tour the country ahead of the 2028 general elections, reiterated that his leadership vision is built on honesty, hard work, and industrial growth.
