Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane is on the verge of completing a free transfer to Turkish giants Galatasaray.

The 29-year-old arrived in Istanbul on Thursday ahead of finalizing a deal with the Super Lig champions. Galatasaray confirmed the news on social media, sharing photos of Sane draped in the club’s scarf upon landing at Ataturk Airport, and announced that “transfer talks” with the German international have officially begun.

Excitement over the move reached fever pitch as more than one million fans tuned in on Tuesday to watch a live flight-tracker of Sane’s plane arriving in Istanbul via Galatasaray’s YouTube channel.

Sane, who has 70 caps for Germany, joined Bayern Munich from Manchester City in 2020 on a five-year contract. With his current deal expiring at the end of June, he is now set to make a fresh start in Turkey.
