Police in the Volta Region have arrested six people linked to the ritual killing of 25-year-old mason Nelson Anyena, who was allegedly lured and murdered in cold blood for spiritual purposes.

Nelson, who had recently moved to Mafi Adidome with his wife, was tricked into meeting his killers under the pretense of romance.

Investigators say he was strangled by two men allegedly hired by a fetish priest who needed a human body for a ritual.

The suspects include a herbalist, a kente weaver, a fetish priest, his two brothers, and the woman who lured Nelson. After the murder, the body was buried under a shrine, where police later exhumed it—alongside two other unidentified corpses.

All suspects are in custody and will appear in court on August 8, 2025. Police commend the community for their help and urge calm as investigations progress.
