Son of Robert Mugabe Arrested in South Africa Over Alleged Attempted Murder

South African police have arrested Bellarmine Mugabe, the youngest son of Zimbabwe’s late former President Robert Mugabe, on suspicion of attempted murder following a shooting at a property in the affluent Hyde Park suburb of Johannesburg.
The 28-year-old was taken into custody after a 23-year-old man, reportedly a gardener, was shot and sustained serious injuries. Police searching the residence discovered bullet cartridges but have not recovered a firearm.
Bellarmine Mugabe, the son of Robert Mugabe and his second wife Grace Mugabe, is facing the charge alongside another man who was also arrested. Police spokesperson Col Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said the two suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
While authorities have not officially named Bellarmine Mugabe in the arrest, local media and eyewitnesses at the scene confirmed his detention in handcuffs. The victim remains in critical condition at a hospital.
Nevhuhulwi added that the suspects have not disclosed the location of the firearm used in the incident, and investigations are ongoing.
