Hip-hop legend backs Championship club in surprise move to boost global profile
- Global rap icon Snoop Dogg has officially become a minority owner and investor in Swansea City
- Snoop follows in the footsteps of Croatian football legend Luka Modric

Global rap icon Snoop Dogg has officially become a minority owner and investor in Swansea City, the Championship club announced.
The 53-year-old artist, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, made headlines over the weekend when he appeared as the surprise face of Swansea’s new home kit for the 2025–26 season. Now, it’s clear why—he’s the newest member of the club’s ownership group.
“My passion for football is no secret, but becoming part of Swansea City is something truly special,” Snoop Dogg said via the club’s official website. “The club’s story and the community around it really resonated with me. It’s a proud, working-class city with a team that fights back—just like me.”
He added: “I’m honored to be part of Swansea City.”
Snoop follows in the footsteps of Croatian football legend Luka Modric, who joined the ownership group earlier this year. Modric, who just signed with AC Milan as a player, became a shareholder in the club after a takeover led by U.S. businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen in November 2024.
Snoop Dogg, who has more than 100 million followers across social media, is expected to bring a fresh wave of global attention to the club. His involvement reportedly came through a shared connection with Cravatt and Cohen.
The club’s current leadership has been clear about its ambitions to grow Swansea’s brand internationally, aiming to boost revenues and reinvest in the squad in line with profit and sustainability regulations.
With star power like Snoop’s now part of the project, Swansea City is certainly making noise both on and off the pitch.
