A heavy overnight downpour on August 5–6, 2025, brought traffic to a standstill on the Nsawam-Pokuase Road, as floodwaters submerged large portions of the highway.
Commuters were left stranded in stalled vehicles, while some cars broke down entirely in the rising water.
Eyewitnesses reported widespread frustration and safety concerns, describing the road as a “disaster zone” every time it rains.

Motorists and residents are now pleading with President John Dramani Mahama for immediate intervention to improve drainage and rehabilitate the route.
This key road, linking Accra to the Eastern Region, continues to suffer major disruptions during the rainy season, with locals warning that inaction could cost lives and property.
