  • Kojo Oppong Nkrumah criticized President Mahama for failing to communicate the true economic hardships facing Ghanaians in the SONA.

The Ranking Member on Economy and Development and Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi, Mr. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has criticized President Mahama for failing to present the true economic hardships facing Ghanaians during the State of the Nation Address.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament during debates on the President’s SONA message, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah said the address painted a picture of prosperity that does not reflect the realities experienced by ordinary citizens.

“The President made it seem as if life under his administration is ideal, but the reality is very different. Living has become difficult for most people, and the high cost of electricity is crippling businesses. Welders, hairdressers, cold store operators, and many others are struggling under these costs,” he said.

He further noted that while the government emphasizes low inflation figures, the statistics do not align with the lived experiences of Ghanaians, as the high cost of living continues to strain household budgets.

“Citizens are not focused on the inflation numbers but on how much they spend daily to survive,” Mr. Oppong Nkrumah added.
