President John Dramani Mahama visited two survivors of Saturday’s terrorist attack in Burkina Faso, who are currently receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.
The victims, Ghanaian tomato traders, were aboard a truck ambushed by armed assailants in northern Burkina Faso.
Accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, President Mahama offered his condolences and assured the survivors that the government would cover their medical expenses.
Earlier in the day, the president had attended the Minerals Commission’s Local Content Summit in Takoradi, and proceeded directly from the airport to the hospital to see the injured traders.
Seven other Ghanaian traders lost their lives in the attack and have since been laid to rest. The survivors were safely brought home by the Ghana Armed Forces.
