The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into a violent incident that disrupted the District Schools Athletics Games in Agona Swedru, Central Region, on February 19, 2026.
What was meant to be a celebration of student talent and camaraderie reportedly turned chaotic following a clash between students from Obrachire Senior High Technical School and Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS).
Eyewitnesses reported that tensions escalated, culminating in a physical confrontation. During the incident, a student from Obrachire was allegedly attacked by a group of SWESBUS students, struck with sticks, and pelted with stones before bystanders intervened to restore order. The injured student was taken to a nearby health facility for treatment.
Videos of the altercation circulated widely on social media, showing crowds gathered around the student as the violence unfolded.
In a statement on its official Facebook page, the Ghana Police Service confirmed that it was investigating the widely shared footage.
