Police Arrest Three Suspects in Obuasi Murder and Robbery Case

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has apprehended three individuals suspected of being part of a dangerous robbery network operating in Obuasi.

In a statement on Thursday, 19 February, police said the arrests were carried out on 15 February 2026 during an intelligence-led operation at Mangoase near Pokukrom. Officers raided multiple hideouts believed to be linked to the gang.

The suspects have been identified as Aziz Abubakar, also known as “Romeo,” Faraway Amari, and Patient Asare.

During the operation, police recovered a pump-action gun with ammunition, machetes, a bayonet, combat boots, a single 9mm round, and GH¢20,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds from criminal activities.

Investigations have connected two of the suspects to the killing of three individuals at Breme near Bechem in the Bono Region in March 2025. Police said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other accomplices and recover additional weapons.
