The 3rd edition of the Perfect Series Basic School Assessment Contest (B.S.A.C.) officially kicked off yesterday, 5th March, 2026 at Kumasi Anglican Senior High School, with schools from across the region coming together to participate in the auditions and showcase their academic talents.
Speaking to journalists, Pastor Philip Sarpong, CEO of Perfect Media Production and the architect of the contest, acknowledged the challenges and sabotage he has faced in organizing the event, but remained undeterred.

“I’m facing sabotage and challenges, but I’m not discouraged. I urge the government to support this initiative because it is one of the best platforms for developing our kids and contributing to nation-building,” he stated.
Pastor Sarpong explained that, unlike previous editions where auditions were conducted at individual schools, this year’s auditions were centralized to streamline the process. While some schools expressed difficulty attending due to large numbers of students, he expressed hope that they would understand the approach moving forward.

The contest, open to students from Basic 3 to Basic 6, has an ultimate prize of GH₵25,000, an increase from GH₵20,000 in the 2025 edition, along with other rewards and souvenirs. Schools whose three learners score above 50% in the auditions will advance to the next stage of the competition.
Pastor Sarpong also highlighted mathematics as a major challenge for learners, urging teachers to adopt innovative pedagogical methods to help students understand and excel in the subject. He emphasized that schools must believe in their learners and provide adequate materials, warning that excuses for opting out hinder the discovery of talent.
“My door is open to partnerships from anyone or any institution, not just the government,” he added, emphasizing the contest’s goal of unearthing hidden talent and nurturing the next generation of Ghanaian leaders.

Mr. Martin Opoku, lead examiner for the contest, noted that B.S.A.C. serves as a platform for students who are brilliant but often quiet in class, giving them a chance to shine.

The Northern Sector auditions were held on 5th March 2026, with the quarter-finals scheduled for 19th March, semi-finals on 26th March, and the finals on 1st April. Auditions for the Southern Sector are set for 13th March, with quarter-finals on 8th and 15th May, and finals on 22nd May.

The Perfect Series Basic School Assessment Contest continues to grow as a prestigious platform for academic excellence, encouraging learners across Ghana to pursue knowledge, innovation, and success.
