The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has paid a historic visit to the headquarters of the Ghana Police Service, reaffirming the commitment of traditional authorities to supporting law enforcement and national security.

The visit, which took place on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, brought together the revered monarch, senior police officials, and prominent traditional leaders in what has been described as a significant milestone in police–traditional relations.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, led the police hierarchy to receive the Asantehene and provided briefings on ongoing reforms, public safety strategies, and crime prevention initiatives being implemented nationwide.

In his remarks, the IGP expressed deep appreciation for the Asantehene’s consistent support for the Ghana Police Service.

“Your support for the Ghana Police Service has been fatherly and exemplary. Over the years, you have hosted several IGPs and police leaders, offering counsel, guidance, and encouragement, with your doors always open to us,” Mr. Yohuno stated.

The visit highlights renewed efforts to strengthen cooperation between traditional rulers and state security institutions, promoting a unified and community-centered approach to maintaining peace and security across Ghana.
