What was meant to be a joyful naming ceremony at Gbawe Zero in the Greater Accra Region ended in tragedy on Friday, June 20, after a violent shooting left one person dead and another critically injured.
Eyewitnesses reported that the celebration descended into chaos following a heated altercation believed to be between two rival Asafoatse (traditional warriors or leaders), which quickly escalated into gunfire.
The injured individual is currently receiving medical care at Legon Hospital.
Police in Gbawe have taken over the investigation but have yet to disclose the identities of those involved or reveal the cause of the conflict. An official statement is expected in the coming days.
