A student of Obrachire Senior High Technical School is demanding justice after suffering injuries during a violent clash at a district inter-schools athletics competition in Agona Swedru in the Central Region.

The student, identified as Fiadzigbe, sustained a broken tooth and multiple facial wounds after he was reportedly pelted with stones during the event. A widely circulated video captures the moment he was attacked as other students ran for safety.

Speaking about the incident, Fiadzigbe maintained that he did nothing to provoke the assault. He said he was searching for a place to sit and apply medication to his eye when he was suddenly struck by a stone.

“I didn’t do anything. I was just standing there,” he stated, explaining that he only realised what was happening when he saw his colleagues fleeing and stones began hitting him.

The alleged attackers are said to be students of the Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS). The Ghana Police Service has arrested three individuals in connection with the incident, and investigations are ongoing.

The Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education have condemned the violence, describing it as unacceptable and contrary to the spirit of sportsmanship. Sporting activities in the Central Region have since been suspended as authorities review security arrangements.

For Fiadzigbe, accountability is paramount. He says he wants those responsible to face the full consequences of the law.
