NPP to Add 10,000 New Delegates Ahead of 2026 Presidential Primaries
Former executives, parliamentary candidates, and party officials since 1996 to join the expanded delegate list ahead of the highly competitive January 31, 2026, presidential primaries

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will add nearly 10,000 new delegates to its national voter register ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026, the party’s Director of Elections, Evans Nimako, has announced.
Speaking on Thursday, November 6, Mr. Nimako said the updated register now includes former constituency and regional executives, as well as parliamentary candidates who have represented the party since 1996, along with former District and Metropolitan Chief Executives who served under NPP governments.
“Invitations were extended to former constituency executives, regional executives, parliamentary candidates since 1996, and those who served as DCEs and MMDCEs during our time in government. This is expected to add about 10,000 new delegates to the existing register of nearly 200,000,” he explained.
Mr. Nimako also emphasized that the registration and verification exercise has proceeded smoothly, with the participation of agents representing all presidential aspirants, ensuring a transparent process.
The NPP’s 2026 presidential primaries are shaping up to be highly competitive, with five aspirants vying for the flagbearer position:
