With the New Patriotic Party (NPP) set to hold its crucial Delegates Conference on Saturday, July 19, all attention is now on the party’s delegates, who hold the power to decide the fate of a key grassroots reform proposal.
Former NPP General Secretary, Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, is making a final passionate appeal to delegates to vote in favor of granting voting rights to former polling station executives and electoral area coordinators.
This follows a recent meeting of the NPP National Executives, where nearly all of Ing. Agyepong’s proposed constitutional reforms were accepted—except the one seeking to include past polling station executives in the party’s electoral college.
In his appeal, Ing. Agyepong reminded delegates that they carry the responsibility of ensuring the party remains rooted in its founding values of grassroots participation and inclusiveness.
“Delegates have a unique opportunity to correct an injustice,” he said. “The former polling station executives are the bedrock of our party—they must not be sidelined. They deserve a say in how the party they helped build is run.”
He emphasized that many former grassroots executives have remained loyal to the party for decades and continue to play active roles in mobilization and support at the community level, even after leaving office.
According to Ing. Agyepong, approving this proposal would not only restore morale among the party base but also reinforce unity and trust ahead of the 2024 general elections.

He also cautioned that failure to endorse the proposal could deepen frustration and disenchantment among core party activists.
“This is a critical vote. It’s about fairness, recognition, and the long-term strength of the NPP,” Agyepong urged. “Delegates, the future of our grassroots base is in your hands.”
As the clock ticks toward Saturday’s conference, delegates are being called upon to rise to the moment and ensure that no dedicated party member is left behind.
