Dr. Hanna Bisiw-Kotei, Administrator of the Minerals Development Fund, has strongly rejected calls by the Minority in Parliament demanding her dismissal following her comments on the violent incident that marred the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun.

Describing the calls as laughable, Dr. Bisiw-Kotei in an interview on Wednesday, July 16, that she found the Minority’s demands unserious and baseless.

“Trust me, it’s the biggest joke of the day. I laughed at the headline. No one can compel me to show sympathy for Hawa Koomson. I won’t pretend. I’m not a hypocrite,” she declared, firmly defending her stance.

She clarified that her remarks were being misinterpreted and stressed that she remains focused on her responsibilities within the party.

“I haven’t even paid attention to them. We are busy working. Malik too is focused. I condemn violence—but no one can dictate my emotions toward someone who has caused pain to others. I am a direct victim,” she emphasized.

The Minority’s criticism comes in the wake of alleged violence involving former Fisheries Minister Hawa Koomson at the St. Peter’s Methodist Church polling station during the July 11 rerun.

In addition to Bisiw-Kotei, they also targeted Malik Basintale, Acting CEO of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), referencing a controversial Facebook post where he jokingly described a man involved in the chaos as “Flying Python” and humorously nominated him for a fictional “5K Airforce.”

The Minority argues that such conduct is unbecoming of public officials responsible for youth and women’s empowerment and poses a threat to democratic values. They are demanding the immediate dismissal of both officials.
