The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has confirmed that its National Delegates Conference will go ahead as scheduled on Saturday, July 19, 2025, brushing aside internal petitions calling for a postponement.

According to Joseph Osei-Owusu, Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee, the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Council have reviewed and rejected the request to reschedule, citing thorough preparations and existing commitments.

“There was a petition requesting a new date, but after deliberation, NEC decided the conference should proceed. We are fully prepared,” Osei-Owusu stated at a media briefing.

The conference will be a significant event for the party, with a focus on key constitutional reforms. Delegates will discuss amendments proposed by the Prof. Mike Oquaye Committee and revisit a reform proposal originally approved in principle during the 2019 Delegates Conference in Kumasi but never formally adopted.

NPP Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, explained that the proposed changes are designed to strengthen party structures and position the NPP for long-term success, particularly in the 2028 elections.

The event will take place under the theme “Rebuilding Together With Our Values,” emphasizing unity, renewal, and strategic growth.
